Anyone hot air ballooned in Florida?

Trying to persuade my wife to try it but she's terrified of heights.

Anyone who's done this care to share their experience and say whether it was good/bad/worth the money/safe etc etc.

TIA

  • My family and I went hot air ballooning in Orlando in October 2004. We booked via a Virgin rep with Orange Blossom balloons, (ran by an english guy - Richard, I think) https://www.orangeblossomballoons.com, (sorry if the link doesn't work ).

Everyone meets early with the team at a local hotel, their transportation takes you to a field to help layout the balloon and by the time the sun is up you are ready to take off. (Make sure you use the insect repellant they offer, you'll get eaten alive otherwise) It was fantastic ,wonderful scenary and so quiet. After the hustle and bustle of the theme parks it was very relaxing.

The field team follow you and then help put away the balloon once you land. You then return with the team to the pick up point and have a buffet breakfast where everyone receives a flight certificate.

I would encourage anyone to have a go , we were lucky in that our two children who were 4 and 6 at the time could fly free with us and we paid £165 each adult, though I expect prices will have changed by now. We felt very safe and had a great experience.
  • Do it...Do it....Do it....Do it.

we did this with Orange Blossom Balloons a few years back. It was absolutely superb. Very peaceful during flight, lots of laughs getting the thing inflated initially and only a slight bump on landing.

Plus, if your wife really feels she can't do it she can pull out at any time before take-off and can travel with the ground team to the landing spot. Of course, you would lose the $$$.
If you're happy to sell it to me at a price I am happy to pay - then I want it cheaper.
