mum died and dad destroyed her will, now he's gone against everything she wanted HELP

not sure if this is the right place to post this but my mother died in october this year and she had suffered greatly at the hands of alzhimers dying young at 65. i am estranged from my father who is a lying, cheating man and I know he has destroyed the copy of my mums will she kept. I have tried to track down a solicitor that may hold a copy but can't find anyone to be honest I don't even know if she lodged it were she lived when she died or where she was when she married my father. The will stated that all her property assets etc should be split between me and my brother, now he will not part with even a photograph (we litterally have none), he has told me that when he dies everything will pass to my children, in doing this he has cut me out and my brother and his children. This is not about the money but breaks my heart that my mothers wishes are not been kept, she worked hard all her life to leave this for us and i feel certain that she would be 100% against what he is doing, especially for my brother and nephews. He has already lost her house to bad debts around 5 years ago. There is no way to find if she had a will and i can't afford huge solicitors bills, I do not even know if my father took power of attorney. Any suggestions greatly recieved. I love her very much and know that she would be distraught to see this happen. thank you.:(:(:(

You could try putting a notice in the local paper asking for any solicitor holding a will for your mother to contact you, they usually check these announcements regularly for just such a thing.0

Thanks I never thought of that, I'm just a bit wary that it will alert my father to the fact I am trying to find her original will and he'll sell or destroy the rest of her things, an awful thing to say but that is what he is like. I want my children aged 2,4,6,7,9,11 to be able to see photos of thier grandmother and have something that she wanted them too.Don't judge a book by its cover, something's are not always as they seem...0

That is the downside of posting an ad
It could be that even if there is a will, it be a joint one stating that nothing is to pass to the family until the death of the surviving partner and there is nothing to stop him writing a new will in the interim.0 -
Were you really that close to your mother and not have any photo's of her ? Would like to hear the fathers side of this story.0

Go to a local probate solicitor and ask how much it would cost you for them to put an ad in the Law Society Gazette. They have a section for this and most solicitors read it.0

I lost my dad at the end of September & 3 months may well have past but it still hurts like hell.
You don't know the OPs situation, so OP may well have no pics of their mother. I know if i had moved home before my dad died & then fallen out with my mother & my dad then dying, i would've had no photos of him either as they're all stored at home.
Not very fair to come across as judging people when you don't even know half the story, nevrmind the full story.0 -
Have you tried checking whether the will was stored here http://www.justice.gov.uk/guidance/courts-and-tribunals/courts/probate/depositing-documents-for-safe-keeping.htm (They used to be stored at Somerset House before that)We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

As an outsider on this situation i find your post to be rather offensive.

There are always at least two sides to any story and it's a good thing to be reminded of this,
Surely you must have photographs of your parents that you've taken yourself?0 -

Find your nearest probate registry on here, and contact them asap, and explain what's happened, if she's made a will through a solicitor they should have a copy.

Or try these....
