Car Insurance - Business Use?

I have just rang my insurance co to see if they could look at reducing my premium; she asked me what I used my car for and I told her that I was home based and drove to head office every couple of weeks for a few days, sometimes every week. I have business use insurance and she said that what I currently did was classed as 'Commuting' only and that would reduce the premium.

I was surprised at this - could I ask for your comments please?

I would ask for that confirmation in writing. Commuting is generally only allowed to one single place of work. But if they are prepared to accept what you are doing as commuting, fair enough.

if the only business travel you do is the trip to head office then it sounds like commuting will cover you, if you also visit clients or other offices then you need the business cover.

Having said that, in my experience adding business use doesn't add very much and if your company is one of the ones that charge admin fees it might well be that the admin fee will be more than the saving
