another vauxhall astra 1.7dti fuel issue
Options
hi its another 1.7dti astra thread as ive looked on the others on this site and cant find an answer to my problem heres the original thread i posted on astra owners network which had some replies but still not solved the problem i hope someone here can help please?!?!!?
hi everyone i have a astra mk4 1.7dti 03 plate and i have had problems trying to get it running now for about 6 months and is sorned and out of test having only owned the car for 11 months this is very disturbing,
i orininally brought what i thought was a great car until rad had a leak causing engine to overheat i had rad replaced and was fine for 2 weeks before it started smoking and dropping revs and when i looked under the bonnet there was sparking coming from the cambelt end of the diesel pump, had this checked out and the L shaped bracket mounting was missing from pump and the other two bolt hole places had snapped leaving the pump only connected by the pulley thus flapping everywhere and sparking hitting the head,
got this replaced at local garage with second hand complete pump off ebay fitted new timing belt and it ran lovely for 3 days then it started smoking so i had the another garage do a head test of blue water in water tank and it went green so head went when rad burst, and i thought oh great, so i used it still for a couple of days until it decided to start dropping revs again and then eventually wouldnt start ever again so i booked it in and had head replaced and new head gasket kit head bolts new timing belt kit ect. and then it was all done timing was checked countless times and it refused to start still,
had it towed to a vaux specialist locally and had tech2 opcom ect. and only code read was glow plug however after already being at my previous garage it was code read there aswell and gave the same however he also testsed the edu replaced it with a known working one from donor car and still nothing so it is still sitting on my drive and no one seems to know the fault,
since on my drive i ahve checked rear tank and there is only a sender no rear pump, the solenoid was replaced by garage aswell with a known working one, and i have checked the wiring on the pump solenoid and theres no power? so is this the problem im getting nothing earth or live even when cranking it, its turning over as normal and will start with brake cleaners via air filter however will not draw or pump diesel nothing at all PLEASE CAN SOOME ONE HELP ?!?!?!? could it be imobilised and if so why now? or could it be earth problem?

First check - make sure it has got some fuel in.
Second thing - go onto the Vauxhall owners Club Forum for some advice from people who know Vauxhalls back to front.

this was the original post copied and pasted off of astra owners network .com and they still cant come up with an answer0

It's a DTi. That is the mechanical pump model if I am not mistaken.
Crack the unions off the injectors and crank it over. Do you see diesel spraying out? If yes then tighten them up and drag it round the block till the damn thing starts. Diesels can be reluctant if they have been stood for a while.
If not then find out why you are not getting diesel thgough.

ps. its the izusu pump at the back of the engine model0

Does it have the manual primer for the filter? If so try priming the system, It may take a while so be patient.
Check the tank for blockages. Maybe someone got the tiimng out or its slipped.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
OK, if there's no power to the pump solenoid then there's one problem straight away.
The common thing with these is the pump Ecu on the back of the engine. The solder joints can go bad very easily.
That'd be where I'd start looking.

...PLEASE CAN SOOME ONE HELP ?!?!?!? ...
Let that be a very clear message.
Anyone can set up their own garage business claiming to be a <insert name of manufacturer here> specialist.
The fact that the one you took the vehicle to could not even identify the root cause of the fault, let alone fix it demonstrates just how much of a 'specialist' he really is.
If you really want it fixed once and for all, book it into a Vauxhall main dealer. They will not only investigate and identify the fault (usually for a fixed charge of probably no more than £100) then give you a fixed quotation to repair (for which they will seek your approval before proceeding further) and then repair the vehicle if you authorise them to do so.
In the unlikely event they cannot identify the fault (and/or repair the vehicle if subsequently authorised) then you should contact the manufacturer's customer service department directly (not the dealer). The manufacturer will always be interested in learning from your issue ... even if it is usually just to ensure the dealer is then given more training in his job."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
