Had quotes for the work need doing - are they fair?

I've asked someone round and this is what they have quoted:

Gutter and eves trays to front upper and eves trays to rear upper - 280

Turn flat roof into a pitched roof with tiles and new plastic barge boards - 450

scrape render to rear patch up, bond and then terrelean on all of the rear - 1500

Damp proof front and rear walls via injection damp proofing - 300

install 2 wall vents and repoint ridge tiles - 160

remove back boiler and install worchester boiler and 6 radiators - 2200

insulate all pipes in loft - 200

block up existing flues and fix stop tap - 300

skim 2 ceilings and make right plaster under sink and bottom of stairs - 400

electrics - change consumer unit, chop cooker cable into wall, make safe sockets and rener plus do periodic checks - 1000

install bathroom suite - 550

patch up floor in back room - 40

remove fire place in back room and make right finish - 580 including rubbish removal.

I think some of it seems a bit excessive, was wondering what you all thought?

Thanks for your help

i don't think it's over the top the prices seem there , or there abouts , but i wouldn't have thought the removal of fireplace + make good is more than a days work , even if you have to hire a skip , could you insulate the pipes in loft yourself , it's easy to do ,, the electrics may seem a bit pricey , but it all depends on how much is being done

Looks pretty cheap to me. Some of that is quite specialist stuff so is it all from the same person? Personally I'd rather get trades/specialists in than a general builder but thats your call.

Get 2 more quotes. And enquire about who is actually doing the work... i.e. I presume they have a plasterer for the plastering, and a gas safe engineer for the boiler?
  • yeah its one person giving us the quote, but bringing several friends to do the main stuff. I think i'm going to get some more quotes to check
