Buildings Insurance - Storm Damage

Like a lot of people recently, my wee home has been battered about by the recent weather. On the first day of Met Office Red Alerts i had water penetration from my hall ceiling (month worth of rain falling in one night). I called the insurance company who advised they would send out a surveyor but it should be a clear case as they too had been busy in the area due to weather. Week later Hurricane B***** visited our land, 135mph winds and more water in. Phoned company to ask how claim was progressing as i would really like to prevent more damage. Advised they would call back. Two days later further storm warning, red alerts, water penetration. I have just been called to advise that I am not covered as no clear proof of storm damage!!! They said it is down to the fact I have not been maintaining my roof - guy on phone did admit there was evidence of previous work to tiles. Yes - that would be the roofer I got out to check the roof after last winter and he double-checked everything ok. i would have assumed this would be considered me, being a responsible home owner, completing proper maintenance. Where do I go from here....any right of appeal??

Ask the roofer who inspected the roof to draw up a report or letter confirming his inspection and what he advised you0
