Will a compensation award affect my benefits

hi y'all ... am due to get a compensation award from prior employer and I am in receipt of ESA (work related means tested employment support allowance) Housing Benefit...
Had conflicting advice from DWP, Lawyer, Welfare Rights and Citizen's Advice Bureau...
arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! 8 phonecalls later and no joy!
I just want to know what figures are involved and be above board and honest with the DWP etc!!!
Please help am fast losing patience ... :mad:

You need to tell us how much compensation it is, as this will make a difference.0

It depends on how the award is made up. If there is a loss of earnings element the DWP will make a claim from this. Then any amount will be counted as capital, although there may be a period of disregard (again, depending on what the award is for).0

the amount is about 13k no loss of earnings taken into account... just compo award... thanks for replying TJR

If you have not received any award for loss of earnings yet been unable to work for three years, you need to go back to your solicitor and ask why this is the case. If need be, consult another solicitor.0
