thans pivotalgubbins, good luck, mine also says shipped so we shall have to wait and see. as pivotalgubbins says, the poster that thought he had found a similar product had in fact found a basic stripper, the one i have posted is the pro version, which ordinarily retails around the £200 mark, hence why i posted it as worth trying for.

good luck to micmac22 as well. just a quick tip for all those that have ordered and logged onto the robert dyas website since ordering to find it says shipped. it might be worth your while taking a screengrab of that, should robert dyas later turn round and say they will not honour the order.

I don't think that is the same model but a closer fit to the previous link.

    Fingers crossed.

  • I got a cancellation email today after my online account said 'shipped'. Anyone else got the same? Have we got a leg to stand on?

    Yes, I did too.

    I've complained for two reasons:

    (1) The item has been marked as shipped - according to the order confirmation, their acceptance of the order occurs when it is despatched - which has surely occurred?

I'm guessing it hasn't but that they use this as a tactic to stop customers cancelling orders when they change their mind.

    (2) The cancellation email showed both mine and EVERY other person's email address who ordered this item. Pretty appalling for an established retail company to be disclosing sensitive contact information like that.

Normally, I would never complain in this situation but they have royally annoyed me so I have given it a go!

for all those that received cancellation emails, did they come after having a shipped email sent to you and did you also get a 'recall of cancellation' email semt?
im not sure what a recall of cancellation email is but in it was this:- This e-mail may contain confidential and/or privileged information and any form of reproduction, dissemination, copying, disclosure, modification, distribution and/or publication of this e-mail is strictly prohibited without obtaining the sender's written permission.
Now obviously that refers to robert dyas, as they are the sender but as pivotalgubbins has already pointed out, it surely works both ways. is there anyone who is clued up on where we stand legally with regard to the cancellations (especially after having received a shipped email) and the data protection act and the disclosure of email addresses? could well prove far more costly to robert dyas than honouring a few orders.

I have decided to write directly to the robert dyas head office myself as going through customer services rarely works as they are trained to fob people off. head office on the other hand will see the legal implications for the business in general and yet another high street name could disappear because of this. surely a data protection breach is a criminal act. i would advise all those affected to write to the robert dyas head office in surrey.
