But I would still have to pay the import duty (or whatever its called) because of the value of the lens. Its a nice idea though, and one I did consider, but its not practical atm

I read somewhere a few years ago that photography kit isnt subject to duty. but I maybe wrong. this was when I was worried about buying my camera over there. I didnt get hit for customs on the way back
and I had the boxes and manuals in the case with me.
Just use the lense over there and it is no longer new. I know a few people that have gone on camera shopping trips saveing a fortune and spent a fortune shopping its a great city. 0
