I want a Canon EF 400mm f5.6 lens

Does anyone know of anywhere that sells them for a reasonable price, and doesn't use city link as the courier? Alternatively, does anyone know of a shop in Manchester which sells them? Again at a reasonable price, and second hand doesn't necessarily matter.

the cheapest I can seem to find it is £835 but that is using city link. What is it you have against them?

Do Jessops stock them ? If so you can always get them to pricematch.

I've read elsewhere on this site that Jessops don't pricematch anymore.

My camera was supposed to be delivered by city link, and it took them two weeks after the delivery date. They said they knew nothing about it, and then it just turned up, so i dont really trust them.

Jessops is £1099, and i doubt they would price match by that much even if they did it.

Seriously though, everywhere seems to use city link, or doesn't say at all which I suppose is not better.

Its not the wait, its just the general rubbishness of the whole outfit.

I might just have to bite the bullet and go with them, because as you say, £250 is not to be sneezed at

Try fotosense in Bolton I have found them pretty good on priceing, give them a call 01204 532325 they don't list the lense on their site but they should be able to provide you with a price and order one in for you if the price is right. they may even price match.

Does anyone know what the import duty and associated fees are for importing from the US?

These lenses are available from B&H in New York for $1099.95, exactly the same as Jessops, but in dollars not pounds.

XE.com makes that £560 ish, so call it about £600 really. Is it going to cost me £250 odd to import, or is it worth doing?

you could take a weekend in newyork and go buy the lense yourself for about £100 more and who knows what else you could pick up maybe a PS3 sell it over here and make a fair bit of money. Just remember B&H is closed on Saturdays I went there and found that out when we got there so had to go back the next day. Its a fantastic shop full of really knowledgeable and enthusiastic people
