Bought items already - now massively reduced...

Options
Hi

bought some furniture very recently in Laura Ashley sale - with 30% off. Furniture is being made and on order - i.e. I haven't received it yet. Just seen same items now at 50% off!

Because I've not received the goods yet - although have paid - is there anything I can do to try to get some more money off?

thanks

  • Order a second lot at the reduced price and then get a refund on the set you "no longer need" with proof of the price you paid?

If it's being made to order that won't work
I doubt there is anything you can do

That's the risk in life - as above, if they were off the shelf items you could return them (paying postage costs yourself) and get a full refund under distance selling rules - but DSR doesn't apply to made to order items.

Do you know they're being made? Could you cancel the order now? Otherwise the only thing you can do is appeal to their better nature, very few stores would help out though - ring the store and speak to the manager.

Are there any terms and conditions about things being reduced within a certain time of your purchase?

Replies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you

Someone asked this exact question about a year or so ago...exact same thing happened and think the OP went back to the store customer services and arranged something. This is what I'd advise again and hope you get somewhere OP though don't forget its a goodwill gesture your asking for here, not a right.

    How is this helpful?
  • Thanks for all the replies - yes, realise that's just life really but wondered if there was some sort of small print consumer rights thing! Will turn the old charm on and see what they say - thank you everyone.

DSR applies if you bought online and it wasnt a special order ie you can cancel any time upto 7 days after delivery for full refund and outward delivery costs.
