Monday morning, that is my FIRST thing to do. I am going to get them to take off ALL the PPI-watch my debt decrease by at least £3k, if not more!
(I should know how much it added to the loan but my head was buried so far up my a$$ and I was too busy sailing down the river de nile!)

Getting it taken off a current loan is great. Thought about demanding compensation for amount already paid on top of this?

Thanks James - I really need to think about how I go about that without having to mabe be forced to refinanace the debt...

    food for thought!

Once they have confirmed thay've removed the PPI (in writing is always best), I'd then write a letter asking them for compensation saying you believe you were mis-sold. Tell them you will go to the Financial Ombudsman if you do not get a satisfactory response.

No reason why they will be able to force a refinanced debt on you because of this.

    Hi LynD

That is what the papers are suggesting. If you were mis-sold the product then you have the basis for a claim. Contact the Halifax explain to them that you were sold expensive unnecessary insurance and you would like it refunded. They will of course say no. Then ask for it to be stopped and write to them asking for a refund of premiums paid on a mis-sold policy. Once again they may say no then you will need to contact the financial ombudsman.

Good luck and let us all know how you get on

    Best wishes

    me too, beautifully put :rotfl:

I had ppi on first plus loan (loans.co.uk), wrote to them. they said no, no chance beat it, this is our final word on this, wrote again, ditto. Wrote again & they said well, ok then! Got all back, all payments made, over £2000.
Proud to be dealing with my debts :j

Anyone have experience of getting PPI stopped/reclaimed from Welcome Finance (yeh - I know - wiser now!)?

I've got a major pre-existing health condition which means that I would never probably be able to claim re loss of earnings, etc. Most likely they would say anything that happened to me was linked to this condition. This wasn't discussed at the time that it was added onto the loan, without much discussion, (before I became wise and moneysaving).
