Im a linger term temporary worker - everyone else christmas dinner paid for not me :-

    There are different benefits that apply depending on how long you have been there, but for instance, permanent staff here get £10 a day lunch allowance, free tea, coffee, canned drinks etc. and we legally have to offer temporary staff the same.

    Not sure if it makes a difference that at your company staff are paying for lunch and then claiming it back, either way, seems a bit mean that your manager doesn't pay for you and claim it back.

    The law changed on 1 October 2011.

    There are some Day One rights, but pay is not affected until the completion of 12 weeks (and the time is not back-dated to start before 1 October).
