Hi,
I am a long term agency worker (been working nearly a year for the company) everyone else has been told they can get the cost of their Christmas dinner reimbursed apart from me.
with the new laws - is this legal? its certainly not fair.
Very sorry about the typo in the title. Cant edit it now!!

From what I can gather this is irrelivant because the same conditions only apply to pay and notice etc and not benefits...as far as I can understand and to be honest even if it does apply the OP would not be wise to kick a fuss up over a £20 meal.
Yes it sucks and is unfair but not something I would kick a fuss overThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

The permanent staff and 3rd party associates who have done the "odd" job for the company0 -
I think the laws have changed recently, temporary staff are entitled to "no less" terms than permanent staff.
There are different benefits that apply depending on how long you have been there, but for instance, permanent staff here get £10 a day lunch allowance, free tea, coffee, canned drinks etc. and we legally have to offer temporary staff the same.
Not sure if it makes a difference that at your company staff are paying for lunch and then claiming it back, either way, seems a bit mean that your manager doesn't pay for you and claim it back.
Merry Christmas x0 -

Thanks you maybe right. Just it projects the company badly to me and the actual hard work I have done for them all year. Wish I had not agreed to go now.. aw well. Thanks0 -
The AWR only applies after 12 weeks, and 12 weeks after Oct 1st doesn't kick in until 24 December anyway.
Sorry, OP.
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -

If everyone else is getting theirs paid for, what are they going to do - split the bill between yours and everyone else's?
I'd ask them if this was the case and if so, tell them not to bother - you will have your Christmas meal with people who think better of you than this.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

To be fair it does for me as well. If you are one of only a few agency staff it prob is worth the question and then leave it at that if they still say no.The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

Edit -> advanced you can fix the title.
I would be inclined to just not go if they are doing this and did not tell you at the time of setting up the dinner.0 -

OP, perhaps they will give you a nice Christmas present as in a perm job in January
It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0
