Hi, i dont know if this is the right place to post this so it may be moved?
Anyway basically there is a petition supported by the Daily Express Newspaper to put an end to Inheritance tax at the next Budget. Anyone who has been affected by inheritance tax knows how ridiculously low the amount you can inherit before having to pay inheritance tax is in comparison to the increasing house prices.
If you want to sign up to this petition please go to the link below and follow the instructions. I am sure the link will explain everything much more clearly than i can
http://www.express.co.uk/inheritancetax.html
"We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to ensure that inheritance tax is scrapped in this year's Budget. More details
Submitted by Macer Hall of Daily Express – Deadline to sign up by: 30 April 2007 – Signatures: 15,072"
Thanks

Nice idea in theory, but just out of curiosity how would the lost revenue be replaced? Additional fuel tax? Income tax? Has to come from somewhere?0

I Know what you mean, it also did cross my mind but the same will be said for all the people who give up smoking when there is nowhere 'legal' for them to smoke???? Sorry i dont know the answer?**Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened!**

I wont be signing as I think its a good thing.
lets face it if you don't have the know how to avoid paying it in the first place then you deserve top pay it! LOL0 -
well the road charging one has had 600,000 people sign up that petition so far and the government have basically said that it is going to happen anyway!!
Personally think that Inheritance Tax is up there with Stamp Duty for people being ripped off!!
I've signed it anyway!!! ;-)You can't pick up your teeth with broken fingers!0 -
For me the main thing with inheritance tax is that it is not put up in relation to house prices so there are many more people nowadays who fall into the trap of inheritance tax just from owning a house whether or not they have any savings etc aswell.... If it was all relative it may not be so bad?**Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened!**

This would mean that only 1% of the population of this country has signed the petition so far. I can see why the government wouldn't exactly be shaking in it's shoes :rotfl:**********************************************************************

In my opinion Inheritance tax should be abolished and I have signed the petition.
Thanks for posting0 -
Yes - lets close loads of hospitals & schools etc.Nice to save.0

This is !!!!!!!!. Abolishing inheritance tax would mean that inheritance would become free money which would help the middle and upper classes and the resulting shift in tax burden would hurt those on low incomes who already have to pay a shocking percentage of their income in tax.
Sign this petition if you are greedy idiot.0
