If they give me my money back i'm presuming I will have to give back the three boxes I already have?
The packaging has gone and they are used because I just thought the other boxes were coming I didn't know all this was going to happen.0 -
OP's post immediately following yours does this ably.
Well thats questionable since the product description says "sweater box" and not sweater boxes 5pk or sweater box (pack of 5), although him having the description/page printed is helpful.....especially if it has the catalogue number on it.somethingcorporate wrote: »The website is compelling but your confirmation isn't. I agree with above. IMO, it seems as if they have perhaps copied and pasted the description from catalogue number 211-8174 = which is a 5 pack. OP effectively paid £9.60 for items which (judging by catalogue number above), would've cost £57 (or perhaps £45.60 given the OP seems to have ordered at time of a discount or used a code). I think its debatable whether the offer could be seen as genuine or not. The total prices arent far enough apart to not be realistic but then again, when considering the product.......I wouldnt see 80p as a completely realistic price but its not exactly outside of the scope if they were cheap rubbish.
Its a hard one to call. OP.....have you tried contacting consumer direct or trading standards to see if they can help you at all ?You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
No I have not tried consumer direct or trading standards, I will do this. I never realised they had another item with 5 boxes specifically, I can see what you mean about them copying and pasting the description, Maybe if I had seen both seperate items I would have verified the offer before buying but I never questioned it, as I said they i've had such great offers in the past. I can now understand that there has been a mistake here but it was not apparent to me and their customer service has been appalling, I even told them so and they still would not budge or apologise or even accept their mistake.0

This can happen unfortunatelyI've been lucky with quite a few of my local stores (tesco, asda, argos and even comet! - the latter 2 have quite a bad reputation on here
). It really can make all the difference on who you speak to and probably even whether they're having a bad day or not!
Consumer direct or trading standards should be able to advise you whether you have a case legally. But even if you dont, that doesnt mean you cant sent a letter recorded delivery to the right person. Or even be a bee in their bonnet (its been a while since i've heard that saying!) by posting on facebookThey may not honor the deal if they dont have to legally but they might (just might) refund you for the boxes you did buy as a goodwill gesture and let you keep them.

Thankyou, I appreciate all your help. I have looked up Consumer Direct and I will try and ring them. Really with a little curtesy they could have sorted this out, i'm not unreasonable. The thing that really gets me is they changed the item description after I sent my letter of complaint and yet they say they never received it. Oh well rant over, thanks everone, i'll be sure to let you know the outcome.0

Consumer Direct told me that as they sent out some of the goods they have a contract with me to supply the rest otherwise they have mis-represented the sale / contract. They have advised me to write a letter and send it recorded delivery and I have a reference number to get back in touch with them if this doesn't work. They are also passing on all the details to trading standards to investigate.
I've never used this service before, they were very polite and helpful, I was very pleased, i'm off to write my letter now. Thanks everyone!0 -
