hI,
jUST A BIT OF ADVICE.
The two item Nos are from Ebay and you will see that they are the same item from the same seller.
(Perhaps it didnt get collected)?
Now if you look at the bid history you will notice that two of the bidders are bidding on both items but that their history shows that they have purchased from him in the past.
Does this look sus?
Would you feel comfortable bidding?

I think if it had been mentioned that he'd been let down or if the pic was a LITTLE different or if he'd said that he had more than one, it wouldn't have looked so suspect.

To me this looks quite worrying, even without getting into the possible shill question. No paypal for a start..all lovely unsafe payment methods. Also, disuading people from collecting, and covering themselves that way, for some obscure reason or other.
Add to that the feedback which is beginning to get a little low, especially if you take in to account the positives that mention problems as well.
I don't think this is an out and out scam, If I had to take a random guess I would think it is just a buyer selling things that maybe aren't always exactly as good as he thinks they are. So he's lost some paypal claims in the past and decided to stop taking it so that current buyers can't chargeback. That in turn has meant less bids as so many buyers refuse to pay unless they can use paypal, so he has been forced to start a little bit of shilling, and he's getting that wrong.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I was quite prepared to pay the extra £5 and collect but, as you have pointed out, i would probably waste a journey in finding out that all was not as it seems.
I'm glad that you agree that some shill bidding is going on here though.
Also does the buyer elect NOT to have buyers names shown?
I have noticed some auctions show them whereas others show more info but not the names of the bidders. That would be a mistake to a shill bidder, I would have thought as it is easier to spot the repeat bidders."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -
It's not the seller's decision to hide the bidders' names: eBay now does this on items over £100. I think the idea is to stop spammers contacting the bidders or something, but another effect is that it does make it more difficult to spot probably shill bidders.0

Don't like all the t&cs, he's probably putting off lots of buyers.0

The most recent negative was last June unless I missed a more recent one.
If you are reasonably local, pay cash on collection. You can then examine it before handing over the money.0
