Deffo going full speed ahead with the HSBC tracker. They are waiving their fees until January 22nd...new products launched today for a tv ad campaign between Christmas and New Year. No fees entry or exit, no tie in to a bank account.
Will be happy on this 2.99% no fee for a whiley and look for a long-term fixed deal next year potentially.0 -

Rate BOE Base Rate + 2.49% for life of mortgage (currently 2.99%).
Fee £599 (less if you are an Advance or Premier customer).
There's one for starters... But obviously you'd need to use their calculator to check whether they'll lend you as much as you want on your salaries.
If you're looking at variable rates, double-check how the rate is calculated. Most trackers track the BOE base rate but a few years ago some lenders were tracking LIBOR instead. Discount mortgages are usually at a discount to the bank's SVR, which may not track base rate movements.
Confirmed going with this mortgage, thanks very much for tip off0 -
Hi
I am a journalist for the Sunday Times and I am working on a story for this Sunday (05/05/2013) about comparison sites potentially misleading users by not highlighting the top deals.
I am trying to illustrate the piece with a case study of someone who has lost out by relying on one comparison site to highlight the top rates only to find they could get a better deal from another comparison site, or by going direct to a provider.
It would involve a picture and a short chat with me on the phone.
Do feel free to email me on ali.hussain@sunday-times.co.uk, or call me direct on 0207 782 5216.
Thanks

You don't actually think "comparison sites" offer independent mortgage advice do you, Ali?I am a mortgage broker. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Mortgage Adviser Code of Conduct. Are there any other top mortgages available that arnt covered by these comparison sites?0 -
Silly me.
I should have said "commercially-funded comparison sites where the site owner is remunerated by the firms whose products are listed and the products of those who don't pay, aren't."I am a mortgage broker.
