This is what annoys me about this country!

The OP didn't mean it. Accidents happen. But some @sshole can jump out of his car all abusive and if you !!!!!! him on the nose it's you that gets done! :wall:

Obviously wasnt there to see the incident but if I was sitting in my car in a car park minding my own business and feel a bump, get out my car and see someone holding a trolley which has gone into the side of my car and scratched the car I certainly wouldnt be a happy bunny either.

What do you think the car owner should have done? Offered to buy the OP a coffee and flowers to help them get over the shock?

To the OP - Tesco's Public Liability insurance would cover what Tesco's is liable for, I see no reason why it is Tesco Plc's fault that you drove your trolley into someones car.

Your home insurance (contents) will cover your personal liabilities and so should cover the incident. Saying that, it may be sensible to get the guy simply to get a touch up done if it is the small scratch you say and avoid the extra costs that insurance involves.

Before you get into any talk of fault and claims, should the vehicle have been parked in the collection point in the first place? If it's the trolley collection point you're talking about I'd guess not - point this out and you might not hear from the angry idiot in the car again.

Irrespective if a vehicle should or shouldnt be parked somewhere a static object is there to be seen and avoided. In the more classic example of cars parked blocking driveways etc it is up to the person in charge of the moving object to get the static one moved (either by asking the driver or calling the police) than to try and squeeze past

I was not squeezing past with the trolley as you have mentioned - the trolley was out of my control once I had retrieved it from the trolley bay and it rolled down the inclined before I could get hold of it and it scratched the parked car!

Achie1 - my comments were in response to the post by lindar and not saying that this is what happened on this occasion
