Contractual information

Interesting point I have just read in my contract:
"If you are required to work as a site-based engineer you will be allocated to a customer site for a defined period of time"
I have been on this site for about 3 months with this company now and I dont think I have had a defined period of time. The most I have had is the below from my HR:
"The confusion appears to have come from the request for you to submit your mileage claim however it appears that the start date of your mobile role has genuinely been a little unclear and this has resulted in some miscommunication. The intention is to still move you into a mobile role which I understand is proposed to become effective in the New Year."
How should I apporach this? from a contract point of view. I dont see that as classing as a defined period of time.

Do you know how long the work you are doing at this site is expected to take or is it open-ended?
I don't understand what the problem is here. Are you not getting paid mileage for travelling to the site or something?0 -

The millage is a sperate issue I am already addressing with my employer however I found it interesting while reviewing my contract for information on the other issue that it says I should have a defined period of time. Which I havent been given from what HR have said I wouldnt define that as a defined period of time? My question I guess really is what can be classed as a defined period of time?0 -
What is your end game here? If there isn't a query, what are you trying to achieve? If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

If your place of work is defined as the customer premises then you wont be able to claim the mileage to get there, is that the reason?0

The millage can be ignored. Apologies I didnt word the original post very well. What I would like to know is what can be deemed as a "defined period"? as I dont know if I have been given one or not really.0

If we all say 'one month' and they say 'one day' or 'one week'; I'm still not sure what or where that gets you.
What is the actual issue here?
A defined period can be 'from when the client needs you to when they don't'.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

Seems a bit odd that they'd put a defined period of time in the contract then have no idea what that defined period would be.0 -

No, not odd. Customer responsive.
Oh sorry Mr Client, we can't get our staff to attend your premises for one week as it is fixed in our contracts that each staff member has to attend premises for a defined period of one month.
Well, change the contracts then.
Oh yeah, we'll make it flexible, good idea.
I am still not sure what you are trying to achieve here.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
