does anyone have experience of going to a game in USA. my son and husband love watching baseball and when we are in florida in the summer the new york yankees are playing Tampa bay devil rays.
been to their website but its not clear if you can buy a ticket on the day. website is only selling season tickets and tickets for spring warm up games.
we are hoping we could combine a trip to Busch gardens with the baseball and an overnight stay in a hotel before heading back to orlando.

Have watched the Devil rays three times while in Florida. A terrific experience each time - highly recommended.
First time we just turned up - there was a BOGOF deal ("Two-for-Tuesday") which made it really cheap (family of 5 for about $70 in the cheap seats). Stadium was about a quarter full ( V Cleveland - not a big draw). It was an evening game.
Second time I spotted a voucher in the local paper (which sponsors the team - St Petersburg Times I think - check the team's website). For about $20 each we got a seat, a free hotdog and pepsi and some popcorn. Again, stadium was about a quarter full ( v Kansas City - they rival the Devil Rays for being the worst team in Baseball). It was a Sunday afternoon, starting at 1pm.
Last summer there was a Family Fun Day - also Sunday - when the Red Sox were in town, so the crowd was much bigger (about three quarters full - stadium holds about 45000). The deal offered the same inclusive food for $20 each, with free metal lunch boxes for the boys. We didn't book in advance - just queued at the box office. That day we spent the morning at Busch gdns and were planning to go back for the evening but the game went into extra innings and it wouldn't have been worth it for around an hour. Normally you could be back there by 6ish. I think it's around 45 mins drive from the stadium.
The only problem you might have is if the game sells out, as the Yankees are the biggest team in baseball, so you should perhaps book tickets on the website to be sure. Any other team you could just turn up. Parking might also be difficult close by for a big game - we paid $10 to park in a petrol station across the road. You collect the tickets at the box office on the day.

Above answers your Baseball question. We did Busch gardens linked with stay in Clearwater and Buccaneers football game. Busch gardens then drove to Clearwater, stayed one full day then drove back to orlando via game folowing day. Got talking to American in the ticket queue and got invited to their pre-game BBQ in the car park. Although parking was busy, they were well organised and we were soon away.0

I went to a game in Denver some years ago, I booked the tickets on-line and went to the 'will call' window on gameday to collect them, it could not have been easier. However as has been said, with it being the Yankees you might have to be lucky, check back on their website as well as Devil Rays, you might also want to try ticketmaster.com.
I hope you get the tickets, it is well worth it as you will have a great day out taking in all the sights and sounds and smells!! of the ballpark, watch out for the food, it can be overwhelming.0 -
I wouldn't worry about it selling out this early. Check the website though as you get closer to the game and buy them online when they go on sale. Earlier poster is correct that the St. Petersburg Times is the main newspaper there.

thanks to you all.
the fortnight we are in orlando there are two lots of games. new york yankees and los angeles angels. so I'm sure we will be able to pick up a ticket for one of them. my son would like to see the yankees though.
been looking at hotels within taxi/walking distance to avoid the parking problem.
sounds really exciting though. my husband and son will love it whatever. my daughter and myself well we can just use it as a good trade for a day at Florida mall or the like
