Confused about joint Rail/Ferry Tickets Strike Action Refund

Options
This week I booked a couple of train tickets to travel from Kent to the Isle of Wight on Christmas Eve. The tickets included the ferry crossing from Portsmouth to Ryde.

Today however it has been announced in the news that the Portsmouth Ferry services are all being cancelled due to strike action on that day.

I am now a little confused about who should be refunding my fare. I can cancel the tickets online for a charge of £10 each which seems a little unjust.

In this scenario does anyone know whether it is the train operator, who has sold me the ferry ticket or the ferry company themselves who should refund my tickets?

Thanks

    A BBC website says...
Wightlink said: "[We are] currently working on contingency plans to ensure passengers travel arrangements to and from the Isle of Wight can be fulfilled.
I would suggest you keep an eye on Wightlink's website to find out what alternative arrangements they may make.
Could possibly be the hovercraft from Southsea to Ryde, but maybe not if that is staffed by RMT members.

It is very unlikely that the ferry company will refund you any money.
After all, you haven't paid them any money, have you?
They may well offer an alternative service though.

It is equally unlikely that whoever sold you the tickets can/will charge you a £10 if they cannot provide the service and decide to cancel the contract.
Having said that, they may not want to refund you either, prefering to provide an alternative service instead.

Now, if you cancel the tickets, the seller can of course charge you the £10 admin fee.

If though they cannot offer alternatives and they are forced to cancel, I cannot imagine you being charged a cancellation fee as you have not cancelled.
