Hi all, I am not sure if this in the right section but here goes.....
We visited our local World of Water yesterday and found that are selling a variety of tortoises. These torts although looking ok were being fed on dry tortoise pellets, these have been proven to cause severe problems with the tortoises health and growth rate. The response from an employee there when questioned said it is the proper food for torts! This is the usual response when pet shops, reptile dealers, garden centres get them in stock..... The proper food for tortoises are WEEDS people dandelion leaves, chickory, clover etc.If anyone who uses MSE is thinking of getting a tort(they are great pets btw!) then mosey on over to the Tortoise Trust website or have a look at shelled warriors .The World of water torts were probably imported also, this is a huge no-no,you must buy a tort from a UK breeder .So please look at the sites mentioned before buying you will save alot of heartache(and vets bills) in the future....
Another Daymo rant .....
