Gas boiler help please

Hi
What you need is called a 3 port mid position valve. this is used on a system called a Y plan.
To supply and fit this i charge £140 with the valve itself costing about £70 so cant see why it should cost anymore. This should take roughly 40 minutes to change if the system is drained down but if the system is bunged then this can be changed in less than 30 minutes and there is no risk of blocked cold feed pipes when refilling the system.
If you have a Baxi solo 3 50PF then this has a pump overrun which is wired direct into the boiler and 9 times out of 10 us installers would fit the pump in close proximity to the boiler to save on running cables! I can only assume that this hidden valve will be next to the boiler and pump to save on pipework.
With regards to the combi option this very much depends on flow rates and water pressure. I visit too many properties where installers fit nothing but combi boilers when they dont have very good water pressure.0 -
I would also say that this replacement should be no more than about £180 tops0

It's actually not too hard to do, but I chickened it and paid £140. It may be worth looking at a maintenance contract on boiler and controls for around £12-15 a month from BG, NPower etc. You get an annual service for this.Je suis sabot...0
