For those unsure of what a Whoopie pie is, its a cake, made from sponge, filled with buttercream or fresh cream and can top them with icing or chocolate. I'm assuming these are whole cakes that you slice across the middle to make the two parts due to there only being 4 per serving, as usually you bake the two bits and then put together. HTH
  • Apparently you can make 2 "whoopie pies" out of the 4 "holes" (is that a technical term?). Alternatively, you can cook 4 eggs for your breakfast. I am thinking of making filo pastry mince pies with mine.

Just 2? I thought maybe they are thicker ad can be sliced into 2, seems like alot of effort for 2 little cakes. The egg idea sounds good. None in stock near me but I reserved the waffle maker... which is now checking out as £4.99 online too :)

Where do you buy buttermilk from is it near normal milk in supermarket? I cannot remember seeing it anywhere.

Any of the supermarkets will do it, about 50p a pint.

Would someone be kind enough to post the basic whoopie pie recipe please. I am hoping to put a kilner jar of ingredients together to go with it, but can't pick up the pie maker (from my parents) until Xmas so will be too late then.
    Thanks

Oh *** my batter mix has salt in it - I thought I could just sweeten it up and use it for the waffles but maybe not eh?

*edit* the basic waffle recipes all seem to have some salt in so might be ok??
