Hi sorry to bother you again but still having trouble and in correspondence with the people who run the program and I just wondered if you run Firefox 2. I have had problems with this before when web sites have not caught up with the new version. Just wondered if that might be it. Thanks Sarer

Keep persevering, I learnt to type at evening classes after I left college (its so long ago that I've forgotten how many terms I did). I did get RSA1 (just) but that wasn't why I did it - I was a computer programmer and thought that keyboard skills might come in useful - and boy was I right.

I don't think the learning in hours is particularly realistic, practise makes perfect.

I have never regretted a single minute spent practising the pages and pages of
asa aassaa asaa aas !!! etc
I brought an electric typewritter which used to be permanently set up and I would do the exercises whenever I had a spare 10 mins.

I'm not 100% accurate and I don't think that my words per minute is particularly high but in this day and age with word processers and spelling checkers, it doesn't really matter.

  • Just set this up for my 10 year old to have a go. She thinks it would be cool to type without looking and I think it would be an excellent skill for her to get to grips with.

The best thing is that you don't have to enter an email address and it just accepted her first name and a single letter for her surname so she will remain essentially anonymous and I don't have to worry about her getting spam.

I learned to type almost from scratch with a course similar to this one, I bought it for a tenner - I can now type at an average speed of 35 WPM without rush and not looking at the keyboard, except for the less used keys.

I need more practise as I can never remember, although if I look at the keyboard then check my spelling it usually is ok I dont know how fast I am though.
