Tinned Food Always Check the Inside of the Tins

 I recently had to complain to Morrisons because I had purchased several tins of their own Brand Baked Beans which I found to be faulty due to the inside tinning process breaking down, which left the beans in direct contact with the bare metal, the tin was quite discoloured with black staining.
I had very little concern from the store, and only after insisting the matter was further investigated eventually received £3 of vouchers which made me furious, Since then i have not bought any of their Own Brands Tinned foods however I have found other Brands with the same problem.
So my advice is to always empty the contents of tinned food into a container and then to thougherly check the condition of the tin, if there are any signs of discolouration especially on the bottom and sides of the tin (inside) then return it to the store, or perhaps better still -complain to Trading Standards which I shall do in the future.

I remember that happening to my mum years ago with a tin of Co-op Tomato Soup - the soup actually smelt and tasted metallic because of the transfer.
Not sure whether trading standards could do a lot though, unless you could prove it to be a regular occurence rather than just one potential faulty batch.
But like you say, we're even now more careful with tins - especially ones with tomato based contentsDFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0
