Hi, we have just bought a DS lite and are now looking to buy a memory card for it. I understand it takes a mini SD card in some kind of holder (R4) I have read. But going to the usual online retailors and reading the comments there seems to be a lot of confusion about read only cards and cards just not working.........
So please, could someone give me the definitive on this one.

R4 type cards are now illegal in the UK. They have always been borderline as the most common use was piracy, they could be used to make the DS a MP3 or video player but the courts ruled they were more likely to be used for piracy and banned them.
What card worked on which DS (standard, Lite, XL, DSI and so forth) depends on which specific card it is (R4, Supercard one, Supercard 2, AceCard, CycloneCard were all names for similar products), who made it, what version it was and what firmware was on the card, so it's impossible to give you an answer.
If all you meant was a card to store downloads the DS Lite does not have any memory card storage, all the saved items (such as games saves and personalisation) are stored to the individual game cartridge.0 -
what you need is r4 card + micro sdhc card0
