JSA after redundancy?

My wife took involuntary voluntary redundancy from her company a few months ago. We get a bit with tax credits, but I earn too much for any other benefits other than some child support.

Someone told her that she should be able to get job seekers allowance based on her contributions when employed, which wouldn't be affected by my income but getting any confirmation of this from the job centre or benefits helpline has us going round in circles.

Involuntary? Voluntary? You can't be both it's one or the other.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • She can claim JSA conts for 26 weeks. However if she voluntarily gave up her job her claim can be sanctioned for up to 26 weeks.

Most Most voluntary severances involve an element of coercion.

Its my belief from reading things on the board that you can claim JSA in either case, voluntary or involuntary providing you meet the other criteria
