Millets 40% off offer or not off

Went to millets, saw a rucksack, big signs 25% off ticket price, but shelf edge says 40% off.
Staff wont give me the discount and removed the sign.
He told me it ran out last week, I replied well you gave me 40% off yesterday then changed his mind and told me it ran out last night!
Complained to Head office.
What a fiasco!
Told me it had been investigated, then next Email says they havent!Emails contradicting them selves, store manager says definatly no sign but hasnt spoken to all staff yet!
It was handled like complete amatures, I feel they are deliberatly missleading people.
Any one else had issues?

Makes no difference what the signs say, you offer a price, they have the right to reject it. Mistakes happen, as long as they are not deliberately trying to mislead by leaving the signs up to attract people into the store, then they can correct their mistake by removing the signs. As they have done this then it was just a mistake, move on and wait for the sales after Christmas.0

I fully understand mistakes can happen. It just the way it was delt with was so poor for such a big chain, perhaps thats why they are in the finantial difficulties we see in the pressMakes no difference what the signs say, you offer a price, they have the right to reject it. So you email head office to complain, they contact store manager who says the discount sign is not up but he will speak to staff to see when it was taken down effectively.
Is this right?0 -
They are heading down the tubes fast and are playing pretty loose with sale regulations. Shop in Bristol this lunchtime had "Sale 25% off" and "Sale 50% off" along with a "Everything" banner covering the outside windows (note not "up to" so no get out there). Inside the shop are signs saying "Extra 25% off" with some minor restrictions on them. However you read that lot collectively, it should mean that anything not on the restrictions should be getting more than 25% off - either because its 50% off everything, or because its an "extra 25%" which means that its 25% plus something else. Staff don't want to know - presumably because they know that after Christmas the shops won't be open.
However the real cause of their downfall is that the particular item I was interested in was reduced by 25% from £160 to £120 - but Cotswold Outdoor had the exact same item for £100. I'll leave it till next week and see if I can get it for less - if not Cotswold will get the business.Adventure before Dementia!0
