We've got a blue, green, brown and black bin.
I was wondering if I could put carpet cuttings in the blue one?

You need to tell us what the different coloured bins are for!.....0

Different areas of the country use different coloured bins, and can/will recycle different things, so not knowing where you live I can't help.
I would guess no, considering the mix of materials carpet is often made of, but the only way to be sure is to phone your council help desk, they will be able to let you know.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
Looks like I can't.
Ahh well, I'm gonna pack as many Black bags up and get them sorted that way0 -
Have you looked on your councils website?0

In our area we can't put carpet in the recycling bin, but there is a dedicated skip at the council "dump" so they presumably do something with it, other than landfill.
But if it's hessian-backed carpet, and you've got any half-decent chunks, it may be worth holding on to them for a few weeks - placed hessian-side-up under your cars driven wheels, it's excellent for getting going on snow / ice when the wheels would otherwise spin uselessly0 -
It burns well and generates heat:eek::A0

Our blue bin is for garden clippings and grass so doubt it would go in there.
If it's any good put it on Freecycle, someone will always find a use for it.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Look on your council's website, ask at local recycling centre/dump site.
Again, without knowing the colour scheme for the bins in your area ...0 -
My local council tip (recently rebuilt, in Greater Manchester) now specifically has a container for carpet. I can't see that any council would accept it in wheelie bins, as it isn't something most homes would need to recycle very frequently - perhaps every ten years? I had my house fitted out six years ago, and can't see myself getting new carpet for a few years yet.0
