Car Insurance prices ?

Can anyone explain why my car insurance has become ridiculously high? just had a new quote and its gone from just under £500 to £1,875 !!!!!!
I own the X-Trail a car 4x4. I love to drive this type, i am fifty and have no convictions and full no claims. Please explain what is going on! I did also find it a little lower £700 quid on here of all places but its still expensive as far as i am concerned.

Same reason all the posters got.. Because they can get away with it.

Your unlikely to give up the car, So prices can keep going up and up.

They blame it on scammers and uninsured drivers which maybe partly true. But when they payout thousands
on fictitious injury claims then prices and profits will soar.

Dreading next years premium. Changing my occupation to full time devil worshipper will save me £5 on my premium.

I got my renewal yesterday and it's gone from £440 to £550. I spent the afternoon going through all the usual steps to find something cheaper, but couldn't. The cheapest I got was £700. So it looks like I'll be sticking with the same company.

It is the insurance companies themselves who are selling on details to these dodgy claims companies!
  • my insurance renewal notice is due through in 4 weeks, ive been online and found that the same insurer ive been with for my first year has quoted me £700 over £1100 premium ive paid up this year so im dreading the renewal coming through, only difference in details is 1 years NCD as supposed to none when i bought the premuim january this year using all the premium reducing techniques found on here.

one insurer quoted me £10,000 and another £7000. but i cant get my quotes down under £1400 for a 1.4. im going to a local broker to see what they can do for me.

Or there have been lots of claims from owners of this type of vehicle who have found out the hard way that they're not too good in the snow and ice of last winter?

I find it so frustrating when people like our good selves pay all our lives but still get rewarded with gastronomical price hikes when actually, we should be rewarded.Regular payments and accident free motoring !!!!!! is wrong with this country!!!!

Im assuming this "new quote" was the price on the auto-renewal letter?

Last year I got sent a quote for £950+, I went online, got a price of £650(ish) from my insurers own SISTER COMPANY!!!! I phoned my insurer and they agreed a price match!

I was SO annoyed!!! why couldn't they just give me that price in the first place?!?!

It's because their system automatically whacks a load onto the premium in the hope you'll just let the auto-renewal take place!!

Why didn't I change insurer? Because they're ALL at it!
