Fujitsu lifebook for life

Good evening.I hope someone can help.I have been refused a claim under the Fugitsu lifebook for life promo. because [they say] that I did not enclose the original software discs with the computer. To claim I had to send back the laptop with all software and access.that were included in the original deal.It had to be sent to a 3rd party co. for checking, they reported the alleged missing discs and Fujitsu refused the claim.I of course complained knowing that I had put the discs in,it was rechecked and the 3rd party said no discs so refusal upheld.Fujitsu refuse to give me a contact at the 3rd party and say they can do no more. What do I do now? Thanks Tedwood

Did you take photos? or a video of packaging it all up?

(Alas when I sell stuff on Ebay I do this, I know it's not a huge amount of help if it comes to a claim but every little helps)

If not, then you really only have a few options and that is to start a claim with Fujitsu, send a letter before action and then follow through to a court summons. Either they'll fold as legal action really costs them time and money and bad PR or they'll defend it and you'll probably loose.

If you have a witness that you sent it, then you could have them sign an affidavit & send it to Fujitsu with a letter before action. Its a long shot & hopefully they'll cave, but other than that it doesn't look good!

    Hi,
If they won't replace surely they must return your lifebook to you?
The company operating this 'promotion' on behalf of Fujitsu are a joke. They aren't ready, they aren't competent and they take an age to respond to e-mails (probably deliberately), all of which slows down the whole process.
I first registered my claim back at the start of November, originally I was fobbed off with 'website not ready' (they have only had 3 years to get it ready). Eventually I got my claim submitted and fortunately my claim was accepted (I did advise them when claiming/returning that I had photographic evidence of all original contents being returned).
I still don't have my replacement yet though and they won't tell me when I will get it. Looks like the new year now, if I ever do get it.
The original promotion material said that the old lifebook would be collected when the new one was delivered.

  • Sorry to hijack this thread, but I've been looking for information on the L4L claims process for a while now and Baldric is the first person I've come across that's actually experienced it.

Baldric could you please explain the process of how the claim has been handled?

How is the replacement laptop chosen/ordered?

I was expecting to be able to purchase a qualifying lifebook from a retailer and mail-in-rebate to Fujitsu with invoice to get my money back - but from what you've said it looks like the ordering & delivery is handled by either Opia (promo company) or Trojan Electronics (asset/returns company)?

I spent £ 1471.28 exc VAT on my original T5010 Lifebook and I have a high-end spec in mind for my new T901 - I'm going to !!!!ed if they try limit my choices or make me wait more than a month to get my replacement.
  • Hi I am about to submit my claim. I was wondering, if you are rejected do you have to pay return postage. Also do the accept minor cracks and dents?

I have just had my claim rejected on the basis that the case had s small square 1/2" paint removed where i removed a stick from it. The whole laptop was in prestine condition with no cracks, scratches etc as I had cherished it. What are others receiving as reasons for rejection?

I am thinking these rejections are a good way for Fujitsu to squeeze out of a deal. It feels as though their T&C's should have read laptops to be return unopened or in excellent condition.

I am thinking of asking a solicitor for their opinion, what are other doing?

    thanks

My Compaq's Fujitsu hdd has just gone after less than 2 years. I think they're a road of clap.
  • I have had my claim rejected as well for the following reason:

''We have received the report this morning on your current Lifebook and unfortunately due to damage to the casing on your machine, your claim has regrettably been rejected''

I think we should definitely contact a solicitor because according to their original terms&conditions small wear and tear is acceptable. And thats all i had on my laptop, just a couple of scratches and small damage to the casing.

    Best Regards

I contacted a number of organisations but followed the instructions from consumer direct in the first instance. I have refrained from getting a solicitor on the case at present.

Consumer direct were great and set out what I should do. They suggested that first I write a formal complaint and request that my claim be authorised. I should then wait for a formal response before taking next steps.

I would suggest you do the same and make sure the letter is sent recorded for proof of reciept. The more cases watchdog and consumer direct get and I suspect this will be a lot the quicker they will investigate Fujitsu.

Good luck and keep us all posted via this thread.
