  • My Vw Golf 1.4 owned since june 2004 has broken down once a year from 2006 onwards, a mixture of faulty coils and and the infamous EGR valve which has now been replaced 4 times. I almost made a full year of no breakdowns this year but broke down with the EGR again in the final month, 6 months on and no issues up to now *touch wood*

October 2011 - cut out just leaving Knutsford Services - was a bit of dirt in the carb - dislodged and back to normal within five minutes.
    2008 - seized brake caliper.

Those are the only two times over the three cars I have owned since I started driving in 2003 - all Ford Sierras (current two are 20 and 24 years old now). Bangers to some but all three have been very reliable and I have only had two failures to start in the morning too - both dead batteries.

:T:T:T Brilliant, never owned or wanted a Ford in my life (:o), but I do appreciate that getting to know a car is paramount, especially if you are going to keep them going that long.

Can I ask?, for such a new driver why such an old car??;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
