Do hotels have to honour pricing mistakes?

If there is a glitch in a hotel's booking system and prices are showing as £10 (on laterooms, booking.com etc), and people make bookings, does the hotel legally have to honour those prices? The usual price is around £60 so I think the price is obviously an error.

Unless the law has changed, you haven't actually booked a room until a hotel confirms that booking. So, if they see a mistake has been made & write to you accordingly, then no they don't have to accept a mispriced booking. They may choose to honour it but are not legally bound.0

Well, it's gone now. I'm just curious about the legal side. I have a connection with the hotel involved and know they have been phoning around the dozen or so people who have booked and told them it's a mistake and asked them if the booking can be voided. It's not a faceless corporate chain, it's a small independent and the nice lady who made the mistake is absolutely mortified. It's a small number of rooms so no real biggie here, I'm just wondering what the situation would be if it were 100's of rooms (if all these were honoured it would potentially bankrupt the hotel).
Regarding post 2 above though, as the bookings were through the websites the confirmation was sent automatically.0 -
The legal situation is that if it's obviously a mistake the contract is voidable.0

There is normally something in the T&C's stating that if there is a website error then the booking can be voided. However a small independent may not have this in their T&C's.0

I booked a room last year for a well known hotel in Patong, Phuket, Thailand. I paid £0.02 ( 4 Thai Baht) online and got confirmation etc. Checked in the hotel and they honoured it, which included free entry into their sister nightclub. Should have been £40 per night. They did say however that if I brought a lady back, it would cost an extra £10 lol. I think a lot also depends on the hotel. Mine was brilliantly staffed, but that is amazing Thailand.0
