Sainsburys gift turns out to be a voucher

Shopping at Sainsburys Durham they had a promotion buy a bottle of Baileys and get a gift.
Turned out when I got my 'gift' it was just a £2 voucher off a bottle of champagne. Meaning that I'd have to spend a lot more money to get my 'gift' and I don't want any champagne so the gift is completely worthless to me.
So I basically feel conned into buying some Baileys.

You bought a bottle of Baileys just for a free gift ?"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

No we were planning to get one for Christmas anyway but that's not the point.0

So you weren't 'conned into buying it' as you put in your original post, then...0 -
So you don't remember the Comet buy a TV or something and get £1000 worth of vouchers promotion?
That was a con if ever there was one.
You would have ended up spending £12000 to get your £1000.
And they are still catching people out even after 20 odd years.0 -
But they didn't say it was for vouchers they said it was a gift. Now I don't see an offer where I have to spend more money as a gift.0
-
as you never paid for the voucher and it was given to you i would class it as a gift.
What were you expecting?0 -
I was expecting a product for free. Money off is worth nothing of you were not intending to buy that product. The checkout assistant said other people got mince pies and that's the kind of thing I was expecting.0

so did the gift vary for different customers? Did the promotion not say what the gift was?0

ok just found this online,
Buy Baileys at Sainsburys and get a free gift or MOC
The offer isn't applied online. Plus the gift is random as you get a coupon in the voucher machine. Buying any 70cl or 1 litre Baileys will qualify you
They were:
. £2 off Cava
. £10 off Champagne
. A free chocolate snow bombe (£6)
. A free box of mince pies - I think they were Mr Kiplings
. A free box of TTD salted caramels (£4.99)
. A free TTD Hidden Cherry Christmas pudding 2lb (£6.50)0 -
