Can any give me a bit of advice? I discovered that water had been going behind bath from shower a few weeks ago. Not sure how long this has been happening but the floor, joists and wall all need replacing. A loss adjustor has visited from my insurance company and made a offer to replace floor, wall, bath and tiles. The thing is he has said that they wont pay the full bathroom suite. The loo and basin, taps etc match the bath. They also wont pay for replacing the floor covering. Is this the norm or should i complain and ask for at least 50% of the cost towards the loo, basin and flooring. The basin needs to be removed before the bath can we taken out anyway.

Most policies won't cover the cost of replacing undamaged parts of sets or suites. If your policy has this wording they shouldn't pay to replace the loo and basin but that doesn't stop you asking for a contribution.
Could the bath taps be reused so they match the basin taps? In fact, why are they replacing the bath? Was it damaged?
Everything they have agreed to would be under buildings cover but the floor covering may be classed as contents, depending on what it is. Is it a buildings policy you are claiming under or buildings and contents combined?0 -
ps Is the floor covering even damaged?0

There will be a clause in your insurance over matched sets/ pairs. Most standard insurance doesnt cover sets, most mid net worth and above insurance does (obviously exceptions to both).
The FOS, for reasons beyond me, does however normally expect insurers to make a contribution towards replacing the undamaged parts (50% is the best you can expect)
Is the floor covering damaged? Is it going to be "damaged" to gain access? If it is the later again this comes under the Trace & Access clause in your insurance, budget cover tends not to cover it, better cover does.0
