Wooden venetian blinds ????

I'm planning on fitting wooden blinds in my flat, as curtains appear too difficult to fit in the odd shaped bay.
I've already bought some from dunelm and ikea, however ive now seen some which are 50 mm wide slats and am leaning towards them however these are tailor made and cost quite a bit more than normal ones? Pricewise it looks like around £240 off ebay versus the cut yourself ones (25mm) at under £100.
So any opinions on the 50 mm sixe blinds and more importantly any advise on where to buy them from at a good price. Also any other tips etc woth noting!
Thanks

Argos, homebase and B&Q also have them. Tip from experience: if there are any young children around, go for thick width blinds as mine (homebase) were rather flimsy as we discovered when my one year old bit one of the blinds in half!!0

Seen some in Makro but not sure of exact size.I wish you......
A sunbeam to warm you,
A moonbeam to charm you,
A sheltering angel, so nothing can harm you.0 -
50mm much nicer add a touch of class to your windows dont get fabric line running through them as they fade terribly in the sun0

Any suggestions on where to buy 50 mm wooden venetians?
These only seem to be available from specialised suppliers not bulk selling outlets like B&Q etc.
Anybody bought these and from where?
Thanks

I've got a quote from this seller for £190 which seems incredible as it appears to be nearly £40 less than the next cheapest I have found so far.
This is the item and the seller.
I'm worried by the low amount of feedback although everyone has to start somewhere. What do you think?
Thanks

B&Q are selling all blinds ,curtains and duvet covers for half the original price.Making money make sense...........:T0

Have you tried John Lewis's Made-to-Measure? Not cheap, but we got exactly the blinds we wanted.
We fitted them to a large, Victorian bay window. The weight of these and crumbly 100 year old plastering didn't make a happy combination!!

I haven't been to John lewis yet and they don't mention them on the website so maybe I'll get there some time.
However I have seen some faux leather blinds originally at tesco's but later at other places. Has anyone else seen these anywhere at good prices? I'm now more confused on which ones to go for although price does dictate.

I think B&Q have a sale on wooden venetian blinds at the moment.0

I'm in the blind business and yes there are new faux leather venetians available in a dark leather colour, which we supply and can be found at some retailers. Wood venetians from B & Q are very good actually if you require an uncustomized size. I would say that made to measure or customized wooden venetians are from made to measure companys are of a higher quality but this isn't imeasurable when compared to the cost differential. This is because they are made from higher quality basswood and superior fixings and headrails and cords etc than can be found in most retailers, this is because made to measure companies should offer a guarantee against product failure. Ikea use relatively poor quality basswood and fixtures and fittings but they still look good, but will warp and degrade quicker, like I said before B&Q's are pretty decent. John Lewis are some of the best of the shelf and made to measure on the market because they use well known brands in the industry for there different blinds such as Luxaflex. I would advise that you check your local Made to Measure companies as well as they tend to sell Luxaflex and will be a bit cheaper than John Lewis for the same product thats not dressed up as a John Lewis brand. However there are different qualities from one range to another and I know this because of the different ranges I supply to my customers, so weigh up price against the quality of finish and look you require. I hope this helps.0
