Scary plane landing!

Wouldn't fancy landing in that kind of weather, cheaper than going to Alton Towers

After the bad weather in the UK a few weeks ago I was at my brothers and asked if he had seen the BAE 146 take -off that had been on the news the previous day. during the evening the guy who had been his best man phoned and as he is a pilot with BMI we asked him if he had been flying and had had trouble with the plane control. His comment was along the elines of, no problems with the plane control but the sphincter control left a bit to be desired!

I had one like that at Glasgow airport a few years ago - except that the wheels hit the ground before we went round for another attempt.

    EXCITING !!!!!!!

It happens, it's not unsafe, just a bit dramatic. In that video, that went around.

Over the years, the following incidents come to mind:

    - Landing in Sydney in August. There we were, flying over what looked like suburbs, descending, when the plane suddenly lurched to the right, to the extent we could see rooftops from the OPPOSITE side of the plane through the windows. Captain comes on a few minutes later and explained we were caught in the wake turbulence of a Singapore Airlines 747. That very brief incident was much more frightening than the various bouts of turbulence I've ever been in. Happened suddenly, you can be forgiven for thinking you are about to crash.

    - Landing in Zurich, minimum visibility, moderate turb all the way down. No big deal, good fun in an Avro, worrying if you've not experienced it before. No go-around, but I thought it was going to happen.

I don't mind a bit of bad weather, it makes the monotony of flying more interesting. That said, I'd rather NOT go anywhere near a thunderstorm, that's when it becomes a bit too exciting.

I had a landing like that in ABERDEAN just before christmas- the wind was pretty bad and we ended up being blown acoss the runway sideways as we landed. Screams all round from the back of the plane!
