Free firewalls that works on Vista

My parents have just got a new laptop that is running vista. I tried to run zonealarm as a firewall and failed (totally crashed computer and had to restore it) Does anyone know any free firewalls they would recommend that run on vista?

Thanks

What's the objection to using Vista's own f/w, which is now bi-directional?

Looked at a few reviews and found people think it is rubbish. Is vista's own firewall good and would you recommend staying with it? rather than getting another

PC Pro this month reckoned Vista could do without 3rd party f/w, esp. if you were behind a NAT router. Each to there own, I suppose...
  • So it is a decent firewall and my parents are protected behind it?

suppose its better than nothing at the moment... other good free firewalls like comodo and jetco arent vista compatable yet as well. also, you never know, it may be good... make your own conclusion

I notice ZoneAlarm is still not compatible with Vista :wall:

I've also noticed my dual-core (1.8Ghz) slowing down and startup times are now similar to my two year old laptop (1.6Ghz) :o I'm running a Windows Defender scan now along with avast antivirus, then I'll try disk defragmenter and see what that throws up... :o

have as many copies of it as you like.
