I didn't score enough points in my Medical Assessment

Hi
I recently had a doctor come to my home for a medical assessment as I am on incapacity benefit.
Apparently I didn't get enough points to entitle me to claim IB anymore
I have been told that I can appeal but while I do appeal my money will go down to 35.00 per week!!
How on earth do I live on 35 pounds in this cold weather at xmas time?
I am single and live alone and have been on IB since 2000.
My medical condition hasn't changed.
Can anyone give me any advise please?
Where can I find a welfare officer to help me with my appeal?
Hope you can help me , thank you

I assume that youre being transitioned onto ESA from IB.
Esa is harder to get than IB and the criteria are slightly different.
If you wish to appeal, you should contact them and ask for the report so you can see where you did/didnt score points. while waiting for an appeal you should receive the assesment rate of ESA.
your local council may have a welfare rights worker or you could try CAB or DIAL.0 -

Hi Nannytone,
Thank you so much for your reply.
I have rang the dwp and they are sending me a report of the assessment out in the post today.
I will look into a welfare officer with the local council.
I feel slightly less panicky now - thanks again

£35.00 a week is wrong, it should be £67.50 and that the standard rate for appeal esa. Contract the jobcentre and ask them why are you getting £35.00 a week ? As DWP stated everybody who appeal on esa will get a standard rate of £67.50 per week!0

dacks6 - no problem. Hope the jobcentre will sort it out for you as you will getting £67.50 during appeal and hopeful you will win the appeal at the end. The appeal hearing could be up to 6 months as long you have to kept bring a doctor sick note continue.0

The appeal could even take longer, mine normally take a year, once it took two years, as i had a second appeal..[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
[/greenhighlight][redtitle]
The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0
