Advice on car sevicing from a garage
Can anyone tell me if this is allowed or is there anything I can do about it........
I put my car in the garage for a service I got a call to say it was ready I went to collect and I was told we have not changed the spark plugs as we cant get them out and we may break the cylinder head gaskit and it would cost you (me) a lot of money, but we cant make the service price any cheaper but you can take the plugs and get someone else to fit them, after a while of saying I'm not paying for something I have not had they eventually gave me a discount but I still have to get my spark plugs changed.
Please cant anyone advise me on this matter.
Thanks in advance.

ok, if you have had the plugs done up too tight they may now be in so tight people wont touch them, worse case is the threads come out when the plugs are undone and each thread needs helicoiling (new thread is inserted using a stainless thread in the old worn out hole usually 30 quid a hole or less = £120 for a 4 cyl car) or having the head off to re thread the holes (end up with a larger hole so hard to get the right plugs) or just fit a new head
removing a head is a pricy business especially on modern twin cam engines
garage is perfectly within its rights to refuse to touch something if they think its going to end in tears and a big bill unless you are happy for them to proceed and you take the fall if it goes bad
what sort of car is it, age, engine size etc0
