Stuck filter on Beko washing machine- help!

Hey all, really need some advice on how to remove the filter from my Beko washing machine. I have followed the instructions, that is twist anticlockwise and pull. It will twist but won't come out at all. I tried using pliers but ended up breaking off part of the plastic instead
and I have unscrewed the nearest screws to it, which only resulted in the filter moving backwards from where it should be positioned. No help at all.
I'm at a real loss as to what to do. Thing is I don't have £60 to call someone out, and all I need is someone to instruct me on how to get the filter open and all will be well in clean clothes land again.
Please help me

I assume its the filter thats part of the pump at the bottom of the machine. I've a hotpoint but assume its similar. Mine was a struggle last time it was making a noiise and not draining, turned out it was a hair grip and a few other bits in there. I just had to keep fiddling and trying until it cam free. I think it will be a fairly sealed unit, so even if you removed the whole part it would be tricky to gain much more access? Make sure you tighten it back up and try undoing it again, maybe try turning the whole machine on its side, back, top etc to see if whatever is holding it in moves to allow it to come out?0

Well beaker, I had a little go at tilting it, which didn't work, and then decided to fully lay it down and get underneath and inside to remove the entire pump.
Easily done I have to say (with switching water off, removing the connecting water pipe and having a tub for excess water to drain from the drain pipe before I did all this- in case anyone else wants to sort out a similar problem themselves!)
Thankfully I had the right tool (like a clamp gripper thing) to be able to move the clips from the connecting pipes to the pump, and lo and behold found that it was in fact a DS pen (stylus) that was jamming the cap! That and some plastic bag thing removed and we had happy days and didn't have to shell out £60 for the priviledge!
Only problem there are still some scum marks left on the clothes after a wash, although it might be due to me overloading the washing machine, so am testing out differing load weights. Failing that I guess I'll have to get back in there and tinker around with it all to see if there are any other blockages0 -
I've been there, tilting the washing machine to get filters out (normally bra wires and screwdriver bits in my case)
The scum is probably just caused by not rinsing properly, rewash everything and it should pump out the water okay now. Washers do appreciate a bit of tls with a cup of vinegar and a run through on 90 now and again though.0 -
screwdriver bits?
Will defo try the vinegar and 90 degree wash , thanks!

Thank you to the original poster and the replies.
Had the same problem, couldn't understand why the filter wouldn't open.
Looked on google and up came your thread. Followed instructions and found a piece of bra underwire and bit of hard plastic!
Prob solved. Many thanks :beer:0 -
Also just had the same problem, on my model (Beko WMB 81241 LW), there is a cross head screw that you have to remove. The manual doesn't mention it!!!! I assume it holds a locking collar in place.0

think I found the solution to the non-budging filter.
yes it needs to turn counter-clockwise, and for several turns.
good chance there's something in there preventing it from turning freely so you need to force it. use a grips to grab a hold and force the turn.
this should work fine0 -
Gave my niece's washer a bit of TLC last week after she complained the clothes were coming out smelly.
Turns out she didn't know they have filters or that the powder drawer can be removed to clean.
Anyway, had the same problem with the filter not coming out easily and could hear a grinding.
Eventually found a £1 coin, 5p coin, 3 hair grips and a screw in there!0 -
don`t force stuck filter , see previous replies , you could have something stuck in there , if you force it you could break it . i keep finding hair grips in mine and i have the same problem;)0
