Discounts on damaged items

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help/offer advice. I bought a dress from Primark today that has a button missing and one of the lapels on the sleeve has come unstitched. It was the last one in my size and asked at the checkout if they would offer a discount. I was told that I could get 10% but not be able to refund or exchange, which was fine, however once the manager came over he said that they couldn't do it as there is a spare button with the dress. I really wanted the dress so bought it anyway but regret my decision! Should the manager have honored the discount? I have worked in retail in the past and thought 10% discount was standard for damaged items but he said it was against primark's policy....
Anyone had similar experiences? What are my rights in this case?
Thanks,
Nicola

Your rights are to return it if you don't want it. You have no right to a discount.0
-
why are the rights to return it, if it was sold as agreed?0
-
Still have rights to return it if faulty, but not for the defects that were pointed out at the time of sale?0

she spotted the faults on the shop floor. mentionerd these at checkout, the store manager even refused discount as a spare button was with dress, but the OP still purchased the dress, so not rights to return as faulty if the fault is one already discussed at checks as already said purchased as seen0
