The boys immediately think of things to help build it, the girls think of things to put in it once it's finished.

I was going to suggest a nice wall clock in the right sort of colour to match it. Or just flick through the kitchen accessories part of the Next Directory. Or some nice Joseph Joseph accessories (Dunelm Mill do some similar stuff for less money)

Otherwise a laser level, already mentioned. I'd properly love one of them
