If your luggage was checked through & you could get your boarding card before arriving at Gatwick then I'd say that it's OK, however your luggage won't be checked through (BA doesn't like Virgin) and so you have to collect & recheck and looking at Virgin's website I would say that you have little chance unless everything goes like clockwork.
For example if you use the on-line checkin then the fast bag drop closes 90 minutes before departure
The normal checkin closes 60 minutes before departure which, allowing an hour to get off the plane / to collect your luggage, doesn't leave you a lot of time to find the checkin, stand in the queue and get checked in.0 -
If you booked your tickets together at the same time then 2 hrs 15 mins is fine otherwise they wouldnt not have allowed the seats to be booked. I think you will find that the minimum tranfer time is 1hr 30. I booked for LA from Manchester, the BMI flight from Man arrives at Heathrow at 0925 and the Virgin LA flight leaves at 1055. That probably involves a change of Terminal at Heathrow too. When you check in at Glasgow they will check your bags right through to Orlando and you should have boarding passes for both flights. If not you will get them at the transfer desk at Gatwick.
Bottom line 2 hrs 15mins is plenty of time, dont worry.0 -
Thanks for the advice.0

I thinks its unlikely that you will get your bags checked through to Orlando. Phone BA and ask them if they can do it. They usually only do it for 'oneworld alliance' carriers of which Virgin isn't part. Ask them anyway.
You can transfer terminals at LGW using the transit. It only takes a couple of minutes and runs about every 10 minutes or so.Timmay!0
