Black and white photo to colour?

I dont really know which part to post this in but i was wondering if anyone had done this, and if you did how please?

I have tryed to google it to see if i can buy a program for the pc which will do it for me but i`m not really coming up with anything.

If you scan it or upload it to Picasa, you can do all sorts to it.
On my camera if I have taken the photo in black and white, it will turn it into colour, but I am not sure if it will do it for a scanned photo.

You can then "shop" automatically (mine goes automatically into photobox, but there are other options).

Picasa is free and extremely easy to use ... it has to be because I am a technophobe!

Thats really useful to know thank you i am going to go and it give it ago, huge bonus that its free to try there are a load to try and change

Well my OH has a photograph of him with his parents which is mainly in black and white but somehow certain parts are in colour (such as my MIL's dress)

This was done in the 1960's so I'm guessing it could still be done now
