methinks he is just sore cause he paid full price for one of the 'new' ones lol ;-)

"New" ones? What, you think I'm making this up? The new ones are all pretend, are they? Maybe you should email Apple and let them know?

Suit yourself sunshine, I don't really care what buying choices you make, I simply dropped in with some information because you were so ill informed you didn't know what you were buying. Way to go Dave.

You're saving yourself about 20 quid by buying an old model. That £20 saving means that for the next couple of years that you own and use your iPod, you'll have to make do with about an 8 hour battery life. You could have bought the new model for 20 pounds more and had about an 18 hour battery life.

You pays yer money, you takes yer choice. *shrug*
  • The new ones are £139 from Apple, I'm not sure where you are getting £128 from. If it's using the £8 off code(£131?)..... that has apparently expired.

    The difference between £99 & £139 is £40.

But even if they were only £128, then you'd still be paying an extra £29, not £20.

I was lucky anyway, Boots cancelled one of the two I ordered but failed to cancel the discount on both....so mine was only £74.99.

The current price direct from the Apple online education store is £128 with free delivery. The £8 voucher was valid against that price bringing it down to £120, but you say that's now expired (I didn't know) so I guess that particular boat has sailed for some people.

So the price premium for the new model with the new chipset and triple battery life is £28. I still know which choice I'd make, but it's horses for courses I guess.

Congrats on the flukey double discount on your particular order though, I agree, that's a nice bargain. In your shoes, I'd put that on ebay the moment it arrives, brand new and in packaging. You should make a nice profit on it and you could then use that to buy a new model iPod Mini, giving yourself a free upgrade, as it were. :)

Precisely my line of thinking. Boots deliver on Monday, my auction ends on Tuesday! I'm really getting into this Ebay thing...

Received mine today too - and the money's not even come out of my bank yet
  • I've been listening to mine all morning - I'm well impressed with the kit (I'd already got iTunes on the PC) and happy with the deal too.
