n power pre payment meters-getting them changed

we moved in 2 years ago and the property has pre payment meters for gas and elec, i wanted to change to ordinary meters but was told there's a £60 fee per meter!
however we need to change from economy 7 so they're coming out and putting in new meters for free but only the pre payment ones again! why cant i have the ones i want if they're ripping the old one out anyway?!
it really feels like they're just trying to con me out of £120 now and the only answer we get is "its our policy" any ideas what i can do if anything?
thanks in advance.

change supplier about it, they are not obliged to change your payment type.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Isn't there a requirement in the Electricty Act that suppliers must offer all payment types?

If you google you can actually find Npowers policy (if I remember rightly it says wont change for 12 months so you appear to have passed that)

The past occupiers situation is of no concern to the new occupier either way.

as Chanz4 suggest changing to a more reasonable supplier may however be your quickest & easiest means of obtaining the changes you require.

Let them change to the normal prepayment meters and then change supplier. British Gas will do them for free if you pass a credit check.

A suppier though is under no obligation to offer (credit) in the sense of a none pre-pay agreement
