sick on redundancy

at the monent i am 2 week in to my 7 week redundancy and my work place it making my life a living hell, if i go off on the sick, does it effect my notice ??????????? if any one knows please let me know

If you are on sick leave during your notice period, you are still classed as 'working your notice'. However you may only get SSP, instead of your full wages (depends on whether your employer has a company sick pay scheme and what the rules are).

i just didnt know that say i have 4 weeks left then i go on sick for 3 weeks does that mean i have 1 week left OR do the employer stop your notice at the point when you go off sick then start it up again when i come back0 -

Subject to an exclusion in the employment act which probably does not apply since it looks like the notice is statutory being 7weeks.0 -

You would have one week left.
The time you spend on sick counts as part of your notice period.

the 7 weeks is due to the lenth of service but the pay out is statutory just wasnt sure about the employer stoping the notive then starting it back up again0

Just because work is making your life a living hell doesnt entitle you to go on the sick.
You would have to get a fit note from your doctor which would probably mean youre lying to him.
You'd really be capable of work living hell or not.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

What it means is that if you are on sick leave during your notice period, you are entitled to continue to be paid full pay.
There is an exclusion if your contractual notice period is longer than the statutory minimum, but as Getmor4less points out the fact that your notice period is 7 weeks, suggests that you have been there for 7 years and are getting just the minimum statutory notice, so the exclusion does not apply to you.I'm a retired employment solicitor. But the amount of time you have had off sick may be included in reference requests in the future. Sickness absence is often not a glowing recommendation.0
